Studio 87 Art Gallery in Perth features artist Bob Pennycook
Bob Pennycook

Bob’s painting inspiration comes from his surroundings. Since moving to Tweed, Ontario a few years ago, he only needs to step outside his front door to find source material. He lives on the edge of the Canadian Shield with almost endless lakes, rivers, rock outcroppings, minerals and rolling hills (and bears!!).

He is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists, an artist member of CARFAC and has been a working artist since 1994.

Although Bob  attended the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD University) for a short time; minored in art at university, and took (and is still taking) many college art courses, he is basically a self taught artist. Art was a passion throughout his early years growing up in Oakville, Ontario.

Bob works primarily in acrylics but often switches to oils, particularly for plein air work. He also creates landscape monoprints and linocuts using slow drying acrylics as his medium.

Although Bob has won several awards for his work and has been part of juried shows at the Salmagundi Club in New York, juried shows in Atlanta, Wisconsin and Toronto, he also spent several years in the early 2000’s designing and teaching decorative painting. He taught decorative art throughout North America, was featured in several magazines on an ongoing basis and published 12 “how-to” books.

He also licenses his work and is currently represented by Parcai Designs in Dallas.
