Marje Fletcher

Marje finds inspiration for her paintings on the winding back roads of Lanark County.  She also spends time plein air painting in the Charlevoix, Eastern Townships, the Laurentians, Haliburton, Frontenac Arch, Algonquin Park and Upper New York State.

Marje graduated with honours from the Graphic Design program at Algonquin College in Ottawa in 1998.  She received an Award of Merit for Excellence in Graphic Design during her first year.  After graduation she worked in communication graphics at the Southern News Bureau in Ottawa.  She is currently involved in graphic design on the freelance basis and was the Curator of the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery at St. Lawrence College in Brockville.

Marje studied painting and drawing at Bob Grant’s Fine Art Studio in Ottawa.  In addition she apprenticed with Bob Grant on “how to teach” basic drawing skills.  She has taken art courses at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, the Ottawa School of Art, and art history at Carleton University,  In addition she studies with Dana Brezina at York Studio in Ottawa, a private atelier with focus on knowledge-based foundation in drawing and painting.

She has taken workshops with the following artists:  Richard Gill, Doug Purdon, Henry Vyfvinkel, Andrea Mossop, Robert Hyndman, Jerry Weiss, Ian Roberts, American impressionist artist Anatoly Dverin, Juan Carlos Maretinez from the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, and David Dunlop - a modern-day old master whose luminous landscapes draw from both Renaissance techniques and contemporary science.
